Today Chip covers two firearms that have obvious Survival applications: the popular Springfield XD and the venerable Savage 99. The discussion on the XD covers a brief history of the platform, an overview of the different design elements of the XD and some recent experiences Chip had shooting one of these great sidearms. The second part of the show focuses on the lever action Savage 99 with attention paid to the “dual use” possibilities of a powerful cartridge like the .308 Winchester in a fast-shooting, but also fairly innocently-looking longarm.
