In an outstanding interview, he recounts his 7 year journey from unarmed mugging victim to the owner of Rick’s Firearm Academy of Detroit, and his corresponding move into gun rights activism. Despite years of Mark’s stalking, when cornered at the NRA convention Rick quickly agreed to this interview, and hopefully many more.

After attending many meetings, interviewing countless people, and pulling hundreds of triggers, Mark describes his trip to the 2012 St Louis NRA Annual Meeting & Exhibits (NRAAM). It’s Mecca for firearm and freedom fans. Sounds like a great time! You know…next year’s NRAAM is in Houston, and there’s already talk of a GRRN Expedition. Keep an eye on this GRRN Forum Thread for developments.

The next fun, frivolity, and firearms full iteration of Mark and Doc’s Bar Stool Discussions is May 2nd at 9:00 EDST – 6:00 PDST. You don’t want to miss it!

No Compromise! Streamed Live! 4/4/12: On Doc’s 47th birthday, Paul Velone, of Grass Roots North Carolina knocks aside the GRRN bar doors to celebrate the elimination of his state’s ban on carrying firearms during a state of emergency. Paul is a guerilla fighter for gun rights with a No Compromise attitude: an aggressive, winning tactic. Then – it gets a bit odd: with the latest Glock follies and an improvised silencer made from an oil filter. Matt of American Specialty Ammo swears it’s the quietest 22LR silencer available. Remember: it ain’t stupid if it works.

The chatroom overflows with April Fools jokes including the Glock G1911 and a tactical kilt. In the after-show, Doc entertains with his “Tales From The Prostrate”, featuring a doctor’s sausage fingers, a missing class ring, a pretty nurse with questions about Doc’s sexual proclivities, a little prick, and a hot nurse named Bob? It was hard to tell over all the laughter. However, descending the Grand Staircase in her antebellum finery, Gail trips over a bit of shattered technology, and doesn’t call in.

Don’t you make that mistake! The Next Really Big Shooow: 18Apr12.

<itunes:summary>No Compromise!

Today we look at the topic of Trunk Guns for Survival/Preparedness purposes, discussing in detail the various considerations for such a firearm as well as some of the better options out there. The focus is on reliable yet inexpensive firearms that can stand up to the wear and tear involved in just riding around in your vehicle waiting for the time they might be needed. Included is information on various military surplus semiautos and bolt actions, major manufacturer hunting guns, and various shot guns that might be suitable. We also touch briefly on some of the legal considerations. For the last segment your host looks at the KelTec PMR-30 and discusses both his own experiences and the “scuttlebutt” on this intriguing design and where it might fit into a survival plan.

Today your humble host discusses one of those guns that I regrettably left behind: the handy Keltec Sub 2000. I have owned two of these little fellers during my experience as a gun owner and find myself now wishing I had held on to one or both of them.

These little carbines are unique due to their capability of folding in half to minimize their dimensional size, yet are reliable, accurate and easy to use. During this episode I look at the basics of this particular platform, some of their advantages/disadvantages and where I see them fitting into someone’s personal Survival Armory.

Paul Barrett, author of the very well received Glock: The Rise of America’s Gun, once again saunters into the GRRN Bar. Paul relates the success of his book, its broad acceptance from NPR to G. Gordon Liddy, and his cancelled SHOT show credentials; the result of Glock’s apparent displeasure. Undeterred, Paul gives Mark and Doc an exclusive sneak-peak at his coming Businessweek article. It’s a tale wrapped in intrigue, embezzlement, shady legalistics, disinheritances, lawsuits, divorce, threatened boardroom shootouts, attempted murder, the control of a company worth billions of euros, and a smokin’ hawt trophy wife: The Glock Family Feud.

Lightening up, the discussion turns to shark-jumping Zombies, OCD brass preparation (Shiny!), and plans for a Reloading Barstool. Mark pitches Paul a book idea: an exposé of the zombified gun-ban movement. It’s truly a great show. However, deep in the tomb, Gail stares down… err… up… her nemesis over double-wielded Deagles; and doesn’t call in. Neither does the evil Doctor Tech – ever again.

However, deep in the tomb, Gail stares down... err... up… her nemesis over double-wielded Deagles; and doesn’t call in. Neither does the evil Doctor Tech – ever again.

It’ll be dang hard to top these last two shows, but join us anyway for the next GRRN Bar Stool Discussion; Feb 8th at 9:00 EST. You DON’T want to miss it! Click onGun Rights Radio Live.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving 2011 Mark Vanderberg did one of the things he really enjoys doing visiting a local gun shop to see what’s new and available. While at Midwest Gun Exchange he had an opportunity to interview General Manager Brad Rupert.
