For everyday use, sure, rechargeables are fine. The professional lights that plug in have a different type of battery than the rechargeables designed to replace AAA, AA, C and D-cell batteries.

Steve mentioned the .38 super.  I have wondered at times why it has been left in the IPSC box, and hasn't really come into the self-defense market.  Especially considering there are countries where civilian ownership of guns chambered in ‘military’ cartridges is more heavily regulated, if not banned outright.  I guess there could be an issue fitting it into standard pistol frames (Glock 17/19 and others), and the increased size of the frame was not deemed justified.
When you look at the ballistics, it’s pushing a slightly heavier (sometimes) bullet than a 9mm a bit faster.  I've always heard the 38 super spoken of as somewhat of a ‘gamer’ round, almost derogatorily, but it seems like something with the power to get the job done if necessary.

Alex, I see your point about long-term storage-I agree 100%. However I wonder about having rechargeables in an EDC light that you probably use every day.  Most officers in my area carry rechargeable lights and simply plug them in when they get home.  I wonder about getting one of those, to supplement or replace my Pro-Tac 2L, when the use is regular and maintenance of the charge can be had every evening.  Once again this is for a regular use item, not for anything that would sit for any extended amount of time between uses.

If you don't like the MOE grips, you might consider using the BCM Gunfighter grip.  It has less of an angle to it (closer to vertical).  Another option for you to consider.  Also, i'm not sure if you know which Giselle you want, but Mr. Giselle has a Youtube video up where he explains his whole line-up of triggers.  It was an excellent video and very informative.  If anyone else is confused, like I was, about the different models it's a must-watch!

Excellent advise, Alex.

We speak and think guns here, but you mention one other area where we tend to not look so carefully - cars. Today many cars have fobs, and those are not easy to figure out when they die. Buying a new set of batteries for a pretty much all-electric car, where you can't even get in the door without electricity, is a darn good idea.

I do not recommend rechargeable batteries in emergency gear. Most rechargeable batteries lose 20% of their power in the first two weeks, just sitting on the shelf.

Rechargeable are fine for toys or items with heavy usage (that is what I use them for). However, all of my support gear has full, normal batteries that are swapped out for fresh sets at the end of year. When I buy batteries for presents at Christmas time, I always buy extra batteries and replace everything from my car sets, bug out bags and bedside gear. This goes for radios, flashlights, GPS, etc.

I have been wrestling with whether I should rechargeable batteries in my flashlight.  On the one hand it's cheaper but on the other hand it seems like they need a lot more attention/rotation.

18.0" with another 1.5" in the flash hider. Mid length gas port.  DD Upper

Jeebus, it's another $200 - 300 more than I paid. To the good, AR prices are starting to fall back to the merely ridiculous.
