Yeah I download them to my iPhone each week and listen to them at work. It really helps pass the time.

Job well done Eric! I've been listening for a few weeks now, and downloaded all your Podcasts and have started working my way current from the beginning. I like the down-to-earth style and it's good to see another younger guy handle the realm of firearms so cautiously and responsibly without all the macho, bravado nonsense. I just joined the GRRN, and the NRA, largely in part from listening to you and the other Podcasters. Not bad with the Youtube videos, either! Keep up the good work, there's plenty of folks out there who benefit from the forums and the Podcasts and haven't joined or spoke up yet. Until today, I was one of them.

Already introduced myself on the GRRN forum, and thought I would pop in here too since I have been trying to get through the backlog of Handgun Podcasts. I found the show about a month ago, and am trying to get up to current episodes.
I really appreciate everything that Eric is doing, and offers some great insight and reviews, without sound preachy as some fanboys on other sites can become.
A little about myself.... Started shooting probably 25 years ago with my first BB gun, picked up a .22 at scout camp back in the late 80s and it has been downhill since.
Long time gun owner... well, for being 34, and having owned a firearm(s) for the past 23 years, I would consider that a long time.
Mostly I shoot for fun, and practice to keep things sharp. Working on getting my wife proficient, just because guns are in the house, and I at least want her to be familiar and comfortable should the need arise.
That's about it, if you have questions, or want to know more, feel free. I hope to stay active on here, and contribute my 2 cents where I feel I can.
Again, thanks to Eric for a great podcast, and making this community available through the GRRN.

Hey all! I joined the GRRN forums a couple of months ago, but never really got around to viewing it much or participating in the community. Thought this would be a good place to start -better late than never. I really appreciate all the work Eric and the other GRRN contributors do, and thoroughly enjoy the podcasts! A little about myself. Currently a college student at Umass. I've always loved fishing and the outdoors, and started hunting a few years ago [only one spikehorn whitetail to my credit so far...] As for firearms, I'm relatively new to them. I've got a couple long guns and recently purchased a new yugo 24/47 to go along with my 237 K98, it gets addicting. My next purchase will probably be some sort of handgun, as I just got my MA LTC. Unfortunately, in this crappy state, my LTC has restrictions for, "hunting and sporting only," so I won't be able to actually carry it -go figure. Looking forward to coming here more often

My name is Brandt. I just started listening to this podcast a couple of weeks ago -- really enjoy them as well. I am new to handguns. I have shot rifles and shotguns all of my life. But decided I needed to be more proactive in protecting myself and my family so I took the concealed firearms class and have my paperwork submitted to get my concealed carry. I have not bought a handgun yet, but I am leaning towards a Springfield XD Subcompact 9mm. So I am listening to get better educated. I appreciate the podcast and the time and effort Eric has put into them. I'm working on becoming an active gun owner now and plan on joining the NRA soon. Thanks again!

Welcome to the forums Brandt, glad to have you aboard. Congratulations on working towards getting your concealed carry license. We need all of the people we can get supporting the right to carry and the Second Amendment. You will find a lot of very knowledgeable and very helpful people here.

bcox, if you're looking at the XD, I'd also advise looking at the subcompact 9mm Glock (model 26, I think). Similar pistol. Slightly different. See which of those you like best.
I have both an XD and Glock and like them both.

Been lurking/posting for about 6 months, might as well introduce myself.
Retired military, spent 20 years in the air force. My last duty station was DM, coincidentally, left in 1998.
Been shooting practically my whole life. Got my first rifle when I was 9 years old, a marlin 30-30 lever action. Attended hunter safety classes, and spent many days hunting with my father and brother. Also had an old .22 LR bolt action rifle growing up for plinking.
Bought my first handgun when I was in my mid-20s, a Taurus PT-99AF 9MM. I still have it and it still operates like a dream. Accurate as hell. Because I was in the military and moving around a lot I didn't buy anything else until I retired, and since then I've gone a bit nuts. My gun safe now holds a Glock 22, a Taurus PT1911 .45ACP, a Browning Buckmark III with red dot sight, a Remington 1100 shotgun, a Bushmaster 6.8MM SPC AR, a Whetherby .300 WSM hunting rifle and finally a Browning Citori O/U 12 gauge for trap shooting. I think I'm done buying new stuff for now.
Anyway, love the show and the forums, keep up the good work.

Well, already introduced myself on the main forum intro thread, but thought I would go a little more in depth here as the Handgun Podcast is what got me on the GRRN in the first place and this is where I will most likely be doing most my lurking. I own 1 gun, a Makarov model 59. Bought it off a friend about 13 or 14 years ago. I haven't been shooting in well over 5 years at this point though. I was forced to leave it in a friends care while I was over seas for about 9 years. I recently took my CCW with Eric, who teaches a great class, BTW. If you haven't gotten your CCW yet, I strongly recommend taking his course, which is how I found out about the GRRN in the first place. For now, I don't carry. Until I get more training and time on range the only people I am a danger to is myself and the ones I want to protect. I've decided to come check out this place in hopes of gleaming some insight on training, equipment, etc from the folks that hang here. While there is no substitute for hands one experience, I find reading does and don't from the pros is also a valid way to learn. I doubt I'll have much to say for a while, from simple lack of knowledge. Hence the name. Most the convictions I hold are based off of reading, listening to other people, and gut feelings. However, I am at least aware that 9 times out of ten(maybe more), I have no fucking clue. Looking forward to fixing that from the fine folks here.

UO- you're going to love episodes 101 and 102. And as soon as my foot is healed up we'll get some more classes going. I just don't want to be crutching around, unable to do/demonstrate the drills.

I want to see the practical application of urban prone while using crutches. I mean just because people are on crutches doesn't mean they shouldn't stop carrying! And i want the video of you doing it on your Youtube Haha just pokin' some crap at ya. Get healed up man.

Cool. Want to get the wife into one of your CCW classes, so give me a heads up if you have any weekend ones coming up. And what the hell did you do to your foot?
