I'd be very interested in know what reason that Sheriff is using to justify her actions.  Has there been a spike in crime in that area?  Have those crimes been committed by holders of valid concealed carry licenses?  I'm betting the answer to both questions is no.  So what reason is there to take them?

Oh yeah I forgot only the high and mighty divinely chosen by the state should be allowed to carry firearms on their person (please don't take this as a dig at police officers, it's mean to be a dig at the state and this one Sheriff).

It is my understanding that she is merely following CA state law as applied in her former jurisdiction, LA County.  Orange County had been operating under a different set of rules than much of the rest of the state.

And now that she is taking permits from the high and mighty, they are the ones getting all huffy about it.  This should prove interesting...

Actually, she is applying an excessively strict interpretation of the law. And going to the most strict interpretation.

Secondly, she has been in breech and engaged in questionable activities. Refusing to relinquish recordings and such.  She also engaged in intimidation. When people came to speak out at the council meeting she had a S.W.A.T. team patting people down. Way above and beyond the need.

Frankly, (and I apologize to any law enforcement officers if they find this offensive). But I believe this woman should be thrown in jail. If good citizens did half as much breech of law and ethics, we'd be arrested.  The same should stand for our leaders and law enforcement.

Lastly, as a father, any !@#$% who has the balls to tell me that a man carrying a deposit bag has more justification than I do carrying my 2 yr old daughter better be willing to accept the consequences. Because if that happened to me, and my wife and daughter were harmed because I was unable to protect them as I had been disarmed by such a sheriff.  I'll leave it at that......

Agreed - just like they do in LA and SF - that's my point.

Also agreed - and many of the council folks that brought her in want her out now, but have to wait for an election because of the way the laws are written...

Agreed again - we seem to agree a lot on this topic Smiley

Oh, yeah - wife and three daughters here.  Actually, the wife would be more dangerous than me if the daughters were harmed...
