Since this seems to be the best source of info on IDPA on the net I figured I would ask a question. Can I use TruGrip on my M&P in SSP or will it violate the modification rules?

thank you,

It is a pre-cut grip tape that you apply to the gun.

According to the rule book, page 27:

Quote
PERMITTED Modifications (Inclusive list):
2. Pistols:
C. Slip-on grip sock and/or skateboard tape.

In my humble opinion, you are golden

Miggy is dead on correct, as usual... you're good to go. I used skateboard tape on my M&P 9mm and .45 without probs at the National Championship, as well as State and Regional matches.

Thanks guys,

I shot an IDPA match over the weekend and a guy who was there helping out had an M&P 9L with TruGrip on and it was pretty sweet (he wasn't shooting the event). Are there other options that might work better? Do you have to prep the frame to get the tape to stick?

Gail Pepin -- our perky, petite, pulchritudinous, perceptive, persistent, peripatetic Princess of Pro-Arms Podcasting and Pre-eminent Polymer Pistols -- uses the similar Tac-Grip on her Glocks in IDPA competition.

They have been through the sharpest IDPA scrutiny at multiple state, regional, and national championships and found good to go in Stock Service Pistol class.

Go ahead and use it...

...and if you get in trouble, remember, GAIL.  Blame GAIL.

As innocently and helpfully as possible,

Bwa-ha-ha, Bob...

Making me "step away from the thesaurus" won't help.

It's just for synonyms.

Each "p posted previously" describes a separate attribute of the pretty, pure, precise, puissant, and perfect Princess.

Would anyone be able to post pics of their grip-tape set up and where / how they installed it on their guns? I'm looking at going with something other than the Tru Grip product (no one has it and it will take 3+ weeks to get from the mfg) so I'm looking for options but I'm not sure where I should stick the stuff.

Thanks.

I picked up some 3M grip tape and played with it late last night. I would have liked to to have used the TruGrip but I couldn't get it in time for my match. It seems to have worked and it really does give you a solid grip.

Here is how it turned out.

Looks good... but the true test will be when you shoot it. Remember comfort is first.
