I shot my first actual timed match.Wow did I ever blow it.During stage one I almost muzzled the "crowd".Of all the mistakes to make, a safty one.The one thing I always prided myself on.I never got my head straight after that.Hopefully next time is better. Embarrassed

When ya do good, you get strokes. "Positive reinforcement."

When ya screw up, you get educated.

Sometimes, the educational days are more important than the stroke days.

Reading between the lines, it sounds as if you have a good attitude and learned the lessons.

Stay with it, bro.

Best,
Mas

Safety is always paramount.  Stsy with it and forget the embarrasement.  A lot of folks would stop at this point, dont.  Stay with it and learn and you will look back at this moment differently.

Good luck

I'm sure you could probably tell but Mas was using my computer. Stick with it and you will have a great time. We shot the match in Jax today, met Ryan from the board here and had a great time. This month we had 2 full squads of new shooters!

Shot my third match. Things are coming along for me. They will for you too next time. Have fun!

Mattman23 (how about some sorta name at the end of your post? We like that... makes it easier to respond on a personal level.)
Your first IDPA match is a lot like a college football player finding out that the NFL moves at a faster pace than college ball. But, after a bit of time, things slow down a bit and become more manageable. Your match experience will... trust me... mirror that. Just stay safe, learn, become comfortable, and then kick butt! It happens.

10th NC State match is this weekend in Boone NC. Don't know whether I will shoot in it or not. Its one thing to embarrass yourself in front of the local shooters......

You should sign up. Twelve stages of fun! Maybe I'll see you there.
