Agreed. I will throw another $100 in the pot if we are all in concurrence.

Just got off the phone with the hosting company's tech support and they stated that the load on the processor and memory is at .9% (very acceptable). There were some adjustments that I made today and I have been monitoring the forums the entire day checking to see if I received an error and I have not as of yet. Right now I'm crossing my fingers that maybe something that I had done today has helped. I would prefer not having to move to the dedicated server because of the additional expense.

Because I will be out tomorrow at my brother's wedding I will not be able to monitor how the site is doing and so if any of you start see it's slowed down again and received a 500 server error could you please e-mail me the time and approximately how many users were on when you receive the error.

Mark-

Thank for your effort. Go enjoy your weekend.

1&1 is a rinky dink outfit at best that runs VM's. If you want to stay with a registrar that is your choice.

If you want to go with a true ISP I know people and others here do too.

Thanks- Jake

Jake,

I appreciate your comments but I have more than 50 domains with 1and1 and over the past six years have had very little problems. And now with the problems I am having is not because of 1and1 it is because there is something that I have done that is eating up CPU and processing power (plug-ins, bad script, bad edit). If I have to say anything bad it's their technical support. Not that they don't give good support but like most companies the first support technicians to talk to, english is not their first language. But you can say that about a whole lot of different out there today.

1and1 is not liked by some administrators but I have become very familiar with how everything works in their system and I am very reluctant to move away from it totally because of that.

cPanel is used on the other server that we have and I find it very difficult if not impossible to do certain things on it. It is really set up to automate everything and I'd like to go in and do things manually. But for some cPanel is absolutely amazing but I just don't agree.

I've even cancel my hosting with GoDaddy because of the very complicated and slow interface their website has. Talking with Mike Smith the other night from the Mike Tech show podcast, he stated that a website he has on GoDaddy is much slower than other hosts he uses.

UDATE:

Was not going to try to troubleshoot the problem this morning due to my brother getting married later this afternoon but when I woke up this morning I needed to activate a new user to the forums and almost immediately got a 500 server error.

After reading around this morning I found a site that showed me how I could get the number queries for each of the sites request from the database.

For the less technical the more queries sent the more resources that are used which are probably causing the 500 server errors.

Here's the list of the results:

Gun Review Podcast: 19 queries
Handgun Podcast: 25 queries
Gun Rights Advocates Podcast: 32 queries
Gun Rights Radio Network (main website not the forums): 122 queries

You can see the results for yourself if you look at the footer of each of the websites.

As you can see from this list the main website for GRRN is substantially higher than the other websites and so now that will be the focus of my attention.

There may be times Sunday, July 26 that the main website may have reduced functionality or be down altogether while I am doing some testing.

Many thanks for all the hard work.

With two days and one hour left of the auction the current bid is at $620. We have a total of $468 looks like will need additional funds to compete in the auction.

Additional funds can be sent to donation@gunrightsradio.com

I see what you mean, seems like u**v just jumped in there out of sequence.

Looks like the same guy is also current high bidder for the North American Hunter Advertising Space.
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=133119854

I bet he bids on the North American Fisherman Advertising Space too.

Hi Mark,

I just sent you $50 via PayPal. Use it for the auction, GRRN costs, or for anything you feel necessary, but do not, I repeat, do not send my donation back.  Grin

I have to head out to the hospital to see my first grandchild and I will be on the road for over an hour. If you would like to donate before the auction is over please give me a call at 574-387-2114 and tell me what your pledges so that I can bid it up higher to make sure we get it. I can do it from the car using my netbook with my phone.
