I call Bullshit.  [Edit:] On the Brit - certainly not Matt. 

The blaster sound was made by hammering on a guy wire for a high tension tower.  Told to me by a soon to be Academy Award nominated Foley Editor.  Next time we were out bunny blasting in the desert, I took a hammer to a guy wire: Confirmed!  Later, I read it on the intratubes.    

I thought the silly Brits banned Slinkys.  Too easy to get entangled around their pencil-necks.
