Im kinda new to rifles. Do bipods really help for varmint hunting?

A bipod can be an accuracy asset. If you are shooting prairie dogs off the hood of a pick up truck, a soft bag is better. If you are taking shots in the field wherever you find them, a prone-sized bipod works well if you are willing to get into the dirt and take prone. It's just a means of steadying the gun and works well in some situations, with better choices in others. As a note, few military snipers head into the field without a bipod. They're a good tool where appropriate.
