I have been looking at replacing the sights on my G19 and I am also hopefully going to shoot my first IDPA match in a few weeks.  I have been considering both the Trijicon traditional 3 dot sights and the XS Big Dots.  I am wondering if people are successful with XS sights in IDPA.  It seems like for the type of shooting that the idea behind XS with fast acquisition vs. pinpoint accuracy would be a reasonable direction.

thanks,
tom

I can't remember seeing any serious competitor using XS sights in IDPA or USPSA. The Trijicons seem to be a more popular choice in that area. Many upper level comptitors run a fiber optic front... some use FO reas as well. For a gun that is often carried I think the Trijicons would work well. If it's mostly shot in competition I'm a big fan of FO.

Take a look at the offerings from Warren Tactical as well. I was going to put a set of XS big dot sights on my M&P and I ended up going with a set of 2-dot night sights from Warren Tactical and couldn't be happier.

I use the M&P for IDPA and home defense (since we don't have CCW in Wisconsin) and they work great in both situations. However, I might go with XS Big Dots if they were going on a daily carry gun.

Thanks for the input.  I don't know how serious a competitor I will be (though I would like to think I'm the next big thing and at this point it will be my every day carry gun (the Glock 19) that is called into service.

I have Warren FO/Sevigny rear sights on the G19, that said, I think you will be fine with XS. From what I understand you'll just have to be aware of a different sight alignment at longer distances. Then it will come naturally after some practice and use.
