It's going to be interesting (in a not-so-good way) to see how the shooting sports adapt to the new state firearms restrictions. IDPA already has a 10 round magazine capacity limit for ESP and SSP. If the round count drops below that for any state (I believe New York's 7 round count is waived at a range) do you think IDPA will adjust the national match rules? And the proposed California laws are terrifying. No removable magazines? Looks like there may be a resurgence of the ESR/SSR classes.
On a side note - how is the ammunition shortage affecting training classes? I can't even find 100 rounds of .223, much less 1000 for a carbine class.

I really don't see changing the rules to suit NY - or any state that does something as silly as they did. There have to be consequences, and adjusting the rules to suit them is not one of them. The boys from NY will simply have to compete with what they have - or get their idiot legislators to change the laws.

Fortunately I'm not a lawyer. However, I suspect those particularly restrictive laws will get bounced in the courts when they come up - which unfortunately takes some time. But the working definition from Heller was "in common use". The cops almost all have magazines that exceed those limits, and that in itself is a mark of "in common usage". But we shall have to see.
