Does anyone reload 7.62x39 for any semi autos. I have gotten several emails about this so I was thinking about a show for this caliber but I do not reload it so I need help. Let me know what you know and if its a caliber even worth reloading

I don't reload it but it is something I have been considering so I would be very much interested in what people have to say.

I don't either but I thinking about it if I can keep my cost down per round and if I can find a good supply of brass and maybe get into bullet casting

I read somewhere about using .308 bullets but I'd do some more checking into that before I did that. Cabelas has some Hornady bullets in 7.62 so they are out there unless you just want to cast your own. My Speer Reloading Manuel #14 has reloading data for 7.62 x 39 but it only has one bullet type. I'm guessing there is more out there and hopefully more will become available.

I was checking this out a little while ago, contemplating getting a 7.62x39, in a Lyman manual it shows a couple of the same bullet types in both the 308 and 7.62.39 sections. sierra hp#2110 110gr cast #311359 115gr I'm thinking it is probably okay, but I have no experience with doing it.

Yeah my Speer manual shows the 308 bullet as .308 diameter (obviously) and the 7.62 x 39 as .310. Not much difference and there is a 125 grain bullet in .308 so the reloading data should be pretty close. Aaron

I have reloaded the 7.62X39 with hunting bullets. Is it worth it??? I don't think so if you are just out having fun shooting and plinking. On my reloading I could get OK accuracy for hunting, but I never tinkered with it much to see just how tight I could get it. May have to get the dies out and give it another go.

One thing about using cast bullets in rifle cartridges, is that the velocities have to be reduced. Otherwise the leading is pretty bad. Ammosmith on youtube does a good job on a video showing how reduced loads are made, using dacron fluff as filler material over top of the powder charge. I don't either but I thinking about it if I can keep my cost down per round and if I can find a good supply of brass and maybe get into bullet casting

it looks like ill be ordering a 7.62x39 upper for my AR-15.
i have been doing alot of research on reloading 762x39 and there is alot of info out there you just have to go look for it. it will not find you is what i have found.
but after talking to a couple of members im thinking about cast my own bullet using lee mold C312-155-2R CTL312-160-2R but i have not found any data for these bullets
or lyman mold 311359 or 311410 and i found data that i can use unique which is good cause i sitting on 20+ pounds of this stuff.
oh and i do plan on using a .30 gas check to keep from leading and using #2 alloy
but i want to still be able to shoot the cheap surplus crap too
what the thought about this. cause im about to drop $700 or so for the upper and brass and dies and bullet molds. is there something else i do instead of 7.62x39
