Do I have too many MP3 players? I started out 4 years ago with a Creative Zen Micro 5 GB and then the headphone jack went bad so when it was out for repair I purchased a SanDisk Santa 2 GB. Then I purchased last Christmas a Microsoft Zune first-generation 30 GB  in brown. The 30GB Zune is a little on the heavy side to be carrying around work so I purchased a second generation Zune 8 GB. But then decided that the software that Microsoft supplies with it just did not do what I wanted it to do. I waited for the next upgrade and it was still somewhat for shit. So went out and purchased an Apple iPod Nano in the 8 GB model. You would think at this point I had way too many MP3 players. Well that's not exactly correct I just purchased last week in Apple iPod Classic in the 80 GB model. I can now put my entire CD collection and all the podcasts and video podcasts I listen to on one player.

So the main question is do I have too many MP3 players? At least I know that the shows on the network will work on multiple players. Yes that's it I'll tell my wife I have all these players because I need to make sure that all the shows network work correctly on all the players. Will She Believe Me?

What, you haven't bought the 160 gig iPod yet?  Grin  (I have the 40 Gig Classic, 60 Gig Classic, 80 Gig Classic, 6 Gig Micro, and 8 Gig Nano, and they all still work...) Seriously, I would send Doc the 60 if it would get episode 15 up earlier... (actually, I would send it to him just as a thank-you if he wanted it...  I am cheerfully downloading episode 14 as I type). iPods are like guns: there is always something bigger, better, or at least different to entice a guy (or gal) to spend more money (although I have not yet convinced my wife the logic of either... and no one buys up upgraded iPods like they do guns).

I started with a MyMusix 1gig mp3 and added a Sandisk Sansa 2 gig. When Woot had the 30 gig Zune I added that to my collection. I then signed up for Audiobooks and none of my players would play books. I purchased an 8 gig nano ipod. I am probably the only person in the USA that has an Ipod that does not have any music on it. All I have is Audio books and podcasts on my nano.

You used your 8GB Nano in the exact same way that I use mine. And the only differences I also have an 80 GB classic that I used for music.

I just have an Iphone 3G.....  I sync it every morning to my laptop... but if I run out of things to listen to through the day, I just just download straight to the phone while at work.....

I've got a Zen W sitting at the house that I used before the phone, but all I used it for was video and radio (if my Iphone would pick up radio I'd be soooo happy)

Updated List

MP3 Player List:

  • Creative Zen Micro 5 GB(giveaway on the podcast)
  • SanDisk Santa 2 GB(Loaned out to friend who is learning Russian with it.)
  • Microsoft Zune first-generation 30 GB(Gave to my oldest daughter after hers came up missing)
  • Microsoft Zune second-generation 8 GB
  • Apple iPod Nano 8 GB third-generation
  • Apple iPod Classic 80 GB fifth-generation
  • Apple iPod touch 16 GB second-generation
  • Microsoft Zune HD 32 GB

Would like to try out one of the new Sony, iRiver & Creative players.

Maybe this weekend I will do a review on my thoughts about Microsoft's New Zune HD. When the review is available you'll be able to find it at my personal blog located at http://mark.vanderberg.org

Then maybe I will do a comparison of all of them.
