I'm sitting here trying to plan what to do over winter and I was thinking that it would be cool to try and put together an IDPA match down your way for all of the Pro Arms podcast listeners.... I know I would love to meet everyone and have some fun shooting a match (and get out of the great frozen north)... It also might be a fun time to run an “intro to IDPA†class for those who are interested but have never had the chance to try it…
Would anyone else be interested? It doesn't need to be sanctioned but it would be cool to set up a match with the Pro Arms team since you guys are responsible for getting so many of us into the sport. I would even volunteer to come down a day or two early and help set it up.
Is something like this possible? It could make for a pretty cool podcast episode....

We have been toying with this idea, bring you guys in on Thurs, have an IDPA clinic on Friday here in L.O., we all shoot the Jacksonville match on Sat, maybe even Orlando on Sun. No solid plans yet though. Great idea!

Orlando? I think I can drag some of the crazies from Miami up there. Jax might be a tad far.

If you want to do that we have to think about logistics.
Options. Arrive Jacksonville Friday afternoon or evening. Stay over. Meet us at the range and shoot the First Coast IDPA match all together. (Gotta be first Saturday of the month). Head from there to Live Oak, party & barbecue & who knows, maybe a wild podcast with everybody. Stay over in Live Oak. Following morning, shoot the Classifier or IDPA "clinic" with Team ProArms. Flyout Sunday night or Monday AM, from Jacksonville.
Or...
Orlando is about 3.5 hours from Live Oak. Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club meets for a match first Sunday of every month. Caravan that far from Live Oak could get clumsy. (We are only about 1 hr 15 min from Jacksonville.) On the other hand, it's easier for Miggy's crew by almost half a day and it would give our friends from farther away an excuse to bring the family to Disney World and so forth, and take one day off to shoot together.
January or February would make the most sense.
What do you all think?

Gail,
I like the sound of option #1 in February... a shoot then hanging out in LO would be a good time (I like BBQ). On top of that I would love to check out the shop plus shoot a classifier or a clinic with the rest of Team Pro Arms!

I am speaking at an IBM conference in Orlando around the 21st of Feb. If I can work the details I can probably do a Friday/Saturday thing that week. So it doesn't look like a match date wise but I like the concept and even if those specific don't work knowing that LO is only 3.5 hours, I may just have to rent a car and drive by just to visit y'alls.

That would be fun....Have to figure out how to afford it...Maybe even fill out the paperwork for a Fl. CCW. not that it would do me much good here in Sunny PRK.

Slacker..... If I can make it from Milwaukee you should be able to make it from Miami If you only knew the herd of cats I have to deal with. Not one sane sucker in the whole bunch. Half of them can't see a Hooters without stopping and the other half collect biscuits from every Cracker Barrel on the road. Gail, Jan or Feb sounds OK ... do remember the State Match 27 & 28 of Feb

Anyone know how close LO and the range is to Orange Park? I might be able to swing it if I can turn it into a trip to see my uncle. Thanks,Matt

Matt, it takes from Miami about 3 hours to get there. You seem about 1/4 to 1/3 closer than us. Say about over 2 hours.
