Bill,
If you are looking at loading both .45 ACP and .38 Spl, for USPSA/IDPA loads, with the same powder I would STRONGLY suggest you go to Win 231 or Hodgdon's HP-38. There may be better powders for one, or the other, caliber.... but these two will produce the desired results in both. They are my choice for "one powder" for both calibers with 230/200 grain bullets in .45 ACP and 158 or 180 grain in .38. And, they work pretty well in 9mm. They also meter very well from a drum-type powder measure... none of this hand weighing charges stuff with them.

Thanks Chris, I'll be sure to pick some up as soon as I can. This weighing of every charge is getting old - with 800x there are variances of .1-.3 grains from my measure, so I have to weigh each charge.

bullseye and 231 are great! 231 is cleaner than the two. Don't forget about Clays. It should be added to both of those powders.
