Finger off the trigger...

Sorry guys, I hate this holster. I know, everybody else thinks it's the bee's knees but I just can't stand it. I carry concealed, not on a duty belt. So, my loss is now your gain! ('Cuz these things are pricey for a kydex holster.) Up for the taking is one (1) BLACKHAWK! CQC Serpa holster, black, for 1911, right handed. Serpa, belt loop and paddle, all in original packaging. Check it out. http://www.lapolicegear.com/blcqcsehomaf.htmlWhat do you have to do to win? Easy. Sort of. By Oct. 5th, tell me why somebody (beside personal preference) would install a flat trigger instead of a curved one in their 1911? What are the benefits? If you can tell me, you're in the selection pool to win...

Hey Eric, Been there with the ugly .45 groups. I had been renting a Walther P22 at my local range just because at $8 plus $4 for 50 rds was still cheaper than 50 rds of .45. Well, my last visit to the range, I broke out my Glock 21. Oh my! I just barely got all 50 rounds on the 12" x 18" target. The Walther I had been using counted all 50 rds at 9 or better. Both targets were shot at 10 yards and 2 weeks apart. Keep practicing, I imagine you were feeling as embarrassed as I was. As far as selling the Sig. Use the money on your gun rights. Whether it is more guns, ammo, an association, technology for your podcast, a Kahr pm45 (this will give you good punch when you need to be more discreet than the Kimber would allow). Just keep the money in firearms and the 2A.
Good luck with that,
Mark Buckley

The advantage of the flat trigger is no matter where (vertically) your finger lands on the trigger you will have the exact same length of trigger pull. I wouldn't mind winning, I have a new Dan Wesson Pointman 7 that would look mighty fine in that holster....

I have no idea. Some of the ProArms podcast team had dinner together and none of them had any idea way you would would want one. They all did say however that Doug Keonig likes them.

Thanks for explaining semi-auto terminology. Your sections on the show regarding gun terms are very useful, so please continue to include them in your future shows.

i want to answer why the trigger is why it is, i think it has to do with cheap lazy machining, a flat cut is easier than a curved one

Eric,
I did a search on the internet and found the following in the description for a flat trigger on Brownells web site.
"Lightweight, aluminum trigger shoe features a flat, serrated face for uniform length-of-pull regardless of index finger placement."
It looks like netprophet21 has it right.
DARN, I was hoping I had the right answer. :'(

Here is what I found in way of reasoning. And it seems to make sense.... "Actually target shooters learned long ago that there are advantages to a flat-faced trigger. You are more likely to pull it straight back, and this results in a more uniform shot-to-shot trigger pull." "The trigger may be ugly, but try the staraight trigger on a 1911 and you'll love it. Much better controllability as finger placement doesn't seem to matter as much." http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=219283"I tried out 10-8’s Flat trigger as well, and fell in love - I grip high on a 1911, and my trigger finger naturally falls at the top of the trigger. The flat trigger finally eliminated the feeling that my finger was trying to “roll†down to the center of the trigger when applying pressure." http://www.coltcco.com/?p=246*** So apparently, it's purpose seems to be designed to eliminate the slide of the trigger when the natural reach is higher up. So that when you pull, your finger doesn't first slide down the trigger before rearward movement of the trigger is made. PS - Thanks for the shout-out for my blog! :-)
