Kagan will not be friendly toward us.

Another blow to freedom will be when Elena Kagan is put on the Supreme Court. How she is even a judge is beyond me. She will have opportunity to interpret the constitution anyway she wants and help remove some of our rights.

I don't lose sleep at night because I know God is always in charge. But I believe he let's us make our own decisions, even as a country, and we reap what we sow. Her Pro-Death stance alone should be enough to keep this lunatic out, but, as usual, our President is making a colossal bad choice.

?And you expected what from this president. Kagan is an even bigger ideologue than Sotomayor, and you will note that Sotomayor voted with the other fascists. This is yet another unAmerican joining the Court. Were there any sense of "the people" on the court, neither Heller nor McDonald should have been 5-4. It ought to have been 7-2, but you won't get either Souter or Sotomayor to actually vote FOR the people. To expect Ginsburg or Stevens to vote for the people would most likely TAKE an act of God. About all you can say is that she is replacing Stevens, who is currently THE most "progressive" (code word for fascist) on the court.

At least she's only replacing another ideologue (Stevens), so the balance of the court won't be changing.  All she'll do is end up embarrassing herself on the high court as the chief justice will be delivering smack-downs to her as she proves over and over again her incompetence.

There needs to be a much more serious reawakening in the country before we can make socialism, progressivism, fascism dirty words that no one will dare take to and be seen on the street. Uh, the smack down will be there for all to read in the published opinions .  And those DO get circulated despite the media.

And yes, I am an optimist.  I have to be.  I'm seeing my country fall apart around me, the culture seething and blaspheming God and doing everything it can to divorce itself from submission to Him (see: post-modernism), and the politicians actively trying to put their boots to our neck for their own socialist agenda.  And I simply cannot fathom them winning ultimately.  I know it is possible, but that only exists as an abstract academic concept.  I will face reality honestly, but right now, in reality, there is still hope.  And I MUST cling to that hope.  If that merits snickers from the more cynical, then so be it.  At least I'm not going to give up hope without it being forcibly stripped from me.

The Lord will be taking me a whole lot sooner than you, I am sure (just hoping he is willing to accept such as me), so I don't have as much left as you. But you stick to your attitude and hope. We all need that.

I have to agree that the truth will get out there despite the media. That's why the government keeps trying to regulate the internet. But even then, if it did find a way to regulate the freedom of speech we have right now, another way to communicate would pop up. I know that Kagan being made a judge is not the end of the world, but I know the slow toleration of sin this country has let overcome itself in the last 40 years will have it's consequences. How fun is a game when one player won't obey the rules while you are? The Bible and Constitution were our rules, but leaders and judges have thrown them out slowly and I'm afraid that's why we're "clinging to our guns" now, before they totally put this country on a path of complacent destruction.
