Hey bob, just listening to your .357 sig review.
I never considered looking at the .357 sig, it just never caught my eye since I tend to stick with the more mainstream 9/40/45 in my semi auto's.
I came across a good deal on a S&W .357 sig full size with night sights for $375. The reason I bought it was because research showed that with the M&P and like you mentioned Glock, the .357sig and .40 use the same mag and the only difference between the two is the .40 barrel.
So I purchased this M&P with some hesitation on the .357 sig but knowing I could put a .40 if I wasn't happy with it.
A week later my Factory M&P barrel came in (at a cost of a whopping $40). I put it in and headed to the range. It was flawless of course. But what was more amazing in that trip to the range was how much I just loved the feel of the .357 sig!... It didn't have the flip of the .40 but it did have a good bit of burst at the muzzle. I found the .357 to be a very very accurate and flat shooting round but there was just something else about it that I really liked.
Then I took it up a notch and I put my storm lake 40 to 9mm conversion barrel in. And sure enough, worked like a charm!... Now I have a gun capable of 3 different calibers that have all proven accurate and reliable and im in just under $600 for everything.
So, after I kind of fell in love with the .357 sig I took my normally carried .40 M&P and bought a .357 sig compact barrel.
I now carry .357 sig. There is just something about the way it feels when I fire it and knowing the ballistics are greater than the 9mm and .40 and if you already carry a .40 you don't lose any capacity when you carry.
Like you were saying with the ammo shortage a year and a half ago, I remember looking at .357 sig on the shelf all the time!... That ammo shortage is actually what got me into shooting .40 and I have actually become quite the fan of that round.
Since .357 sig is a little more on the shelf than the .40, when I go to the range I shoot it in .40 for the most part… and especially to get that 1,000 trigger job in. It was just more economical with .40. But when I carry… im very satisfied with the .357 Sig.
Anyways, I thought your podcast was interesting since I recently went through that "Ah HA!" moment a couple months ago.

Nice to see you've joined the .357 club. I have a 229 in .357/.40 and am waiting for Kahr to come up with a .357 Sig barrel to convert my Kahr to the same calibre. Great round - just tough to reload.

Thanks for the feedback kingofthehill, for those of you interested, even though the title of my latest podcast doesn't say it, I did a .357sig review at the beginning. Inspired of course by the great podcast the Pro Arms team did on it awhile back. I'm no ballistics expert by any means, but I do talk about my experience renting and shooting a gun in .357sig. After the first of the year, I think I'll be investing in a .357sig. The only question is: Glock or M&P? Oooooh.....perhaps I don't want to touch that argument But like you king, I found the .357 surprisingly easy to shoot. Easier than shooting a .40 for me.

The reason i would suggest M&P is by what you said. You noticed you don't care to shoot the Glock in 40 but the M&P in 40 isn't bad
Granted I, like you, have only tried the M&P in 357 sig and not the Glock in .357 sig. I do find my M&P's to be less snappy in 40 than my glock 23 and 22. The only Glock 40 i like that i have tried is my compensated 23. Then it feels like its close to the 9mm g19.
LIke i stated before, if you get down to San Antonio, i have that Steyr for you to shoot and your welcome to my .357 sig M&P compact and full size if you can't find one at the range.

If you're gonna let me shoot that Steyr, be ready for an offer. How much do you want for it? C'mon...everything has it's price. No guarantee I can afford that price though.

Serious, lol... i know everything does but I love the fact that its not common to come across one and the fact it is such a good shooter. I don't think i could let it go
