I successfully avoided degunking my Mosin Nagant M44 once again.

But... I can hear it... rattling its shipping box, crying to be set free, needing to fulfill it's destiny as a tomato stake.

BTW, we saw Cowboys and Aliens.  Pretty damn cool.  I'd give it Five Rounds in a Six Gun or Two Hammers Cocked Back!

You degunk that sucker, you will probably find your groups open up in a huge way!  Grin

Actually shot a .50 A&E for the first time in my life. I was at this range that was new to me, shooting some 9's, and one of the guys there who struck up a conversation had a Dessert Eagle that he offered me a chance to shoot. It was in .50 A&E. I know those rounds make a .44 mag actually look small, but surprisingly it really wasn't hard to shoot. Prolly had to do with the fact that it weighed the usual DE 75 lbs, and had a slide with an AR bolt and two recoil springs. But it was actually quite nice to shoot. And the trigger was quite a bit better than the one on MY DE, which is in .44 mag but has a much more excremental trigger. May have to drag that sucker out for a little more shooting, along with the Ruger Super Blackhawk. Prolly make the 9's feel kind of wimpy.

This is actually for last week.

My son and I went to a charity steel match at our range.  The match was to raise money to cover medical bills for a local kid who is fighting cancer.  It was a great time and a great cause.  I think they where able to raise a lot of $$ for the kid and his family.

You have to hate it when your kid out shoots you, espicially when he is only 8.  It was still a great time.

Finally got a pocket-carry pistol, a Ruger LCP, filling that pocket .380 gap in my carry guns.  It's a sweet shooter. Put 50 rounds through it, with one failure to eject, which I suspect was my limp-wristing it. The LCP puts the bullets where I point it. Nice accuracy, for me at least. The photos show the LCP on its maiden trip to the range, and the target with the first six shots made.

Helped my little brother shoot his first centerfire rifle. A Browning BLR in .243. He jerked the trigger missing a pie plate at 25 feet (Face Palm). It was one of the coolest things he has ever done (According to him). He just can't wait to go shooting again! I have accidentally got him listening to GunDudes as well. Hmmm. I will send in results if the brain rot affects 7yr olds more.

I got out to the range yesterday morning to put a few rounds through my new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard. I was in the market for a pocket pistol for a while, not exactly sure what I wanted to get. I finally decided on the Bodyguard and was pretty happy with the choice prior to shooting it. Now that I've put lead down range with it, I am even happier with the purchase. It shoots great and the recoil is far more manageable than I expected.

Finally mucked out Uncle Joe, my Mosin-Nagant M44.

If I never see another 30 pounds of Cosmoline, it will be too soon.

For those of you that own a Ruger Mark III, you know the issue with stripping it down for thorough cleaning (yet another reason not to over-clean pistols). Well, a couple days ago my friend brought his Mark III over for me to install a kit from Majestic Arms. The one he got had a new take-down piece, a redesigned securing bolt, and a new lighter hammer with a bushing in it where none was there before. I got to install it because my friend tapped on the pin from the hammer - gingerly I might add - and was afraid of whacking it any harder, never having been to the Marine School of Repair (if you can't use C4, it probably isn't worth monkeying with).

The long and short of it all was that I got all the pins out and back in properly, and it only took me two tries to reinsert the backstrap piece that locks all things in their proper place. Works correctly, etc!

NOW. ?What was the point of all this. Well, the kit has a modified locking bolt (the part that protrudes from the top behind the rear sight) - which comes off with just an allen wrench! So now you can totally disassemble your Mark III (well, not quite, but you CAN take out the bolt) without having to brave the terror of getting the hammer strut in the correct alignment. You basically unscrew the bolt and pull it out the top, then pull the bolt out the rear, and VOILA! She is done! Backstrap stays in place, barrel stays in place, and admittedly you cannot see nor clean the innermost reaches of the frame. But then who wanted to do that anyway. AND you can STILL remove the backstrap and run the gauntlet!

For those interested, www. majesticarms.com  Cost you about $50. Same price for cheap guys like Jim.

I took my daughter to the local range for her first time ever shooting and we rented an AR-15 9mm.
This was the first time for me to shoot an AR-15 and we both were grinning from ear to ear afterwards.
She did awesome with her Zombie target and wants to hang it on her dorm door at college, not sure how that will fly
with the college.Lol

As Stan always says, take someone shooting.

Figured out .22s will through a tire and a .117 air rifle (Gamo) will go about halfway. For all you movie buffs out there.

I took a coworker and his family (4 kids), gave a safety lesson, and then took them shooting for their first time ever.  The Beretta CX4 and 9mm AR-15 were big hits, as well as the Ruger 10/22 and Mark III handgun.  I also got to test out my new S&W 500 loads--big booms and big holes.

This week in guns, I made a stock mounted shotshell holder for my H&R 12ga Topper.  I took some spare kydex and paracord and whipped it up in about 3 hrs.  It actually doesn't look too bad.  All this gun needs now is a sling and I have the perfect gun for knockin around in the woods.

It looks like that cord on the side my rough up your face a little because (as you most likely know) those topper recoil ridiculously more than a standard weight shotgun.
