Well, kinda went a little overboard.... Got an installment of my re-enlistment bonus and stocked up on ammo for my SKS and .22. Spam cans are fun to open. Bought some stripper clips for the SKS, Chinese ammo bandolier, Tech-Sights for it, and a rubber butt pad LOP extender. I can't wait to get her to the range next week.

Put cheap red dot on Ruger 10/22 making it almost a cool factor of ten. It needs something... Do they make .22lr side saddles???  |

Took the Savage MK II out this morning with a buddy of mine and spent about 2 hours shooting at soda cans. They are a bitch to hit at 120 yards. He managed to get one. I kept kicking up dirt right around it. At least I was close enough to know I can take a zombie at that range.

Went out shooting the .22 again this morning. Have to do a sculpture made out of "found objects" for an art class I'm taking, and sense the instructor has made a couple comments about not liking guns, I've decided to make mine out of spent casings. I figured as long as I'm heading out there, might as well bring the gun.  Ran into a few a couple other people out there, and had a good time gun swapping with them. All in all, great morning. |

Went shooting with a buddy this morning. 100 rounds of 9mm and a few hundred rounds of .22. A very nice gentleman that was there when we showed up was shooting his Marlin 30-30, and was nice enough to let me fire a few rounds through it. All of a sudden, I understand that love of that gun. Holy hell do I want one now.

However, before you lay down the mean green, be sure you handle the iconic 30-30 rifle: the Winchester 1894. I've been told that it is the most popular rifle/cartridge combo in the world: something like 5 million of the beasties have been manufactured. 1911, hell, the 1894 is John Moses Browning's finest creation! Let see,
This week I took a basic defensive Handgun Glass with 5 time IDPA national champion and retired FBI agent Scott Warren. Scott is a great teacher. Learned a lot, realized that I have a long way to go. And managed to give my M&P 45 a five hundred round trigger job all in the same day.
Life is good.

A 45-70 gawd told me that 305 gr pill in front of 5 grs of Unique is the hot load now for moderate to long range (200 - 300 yrs). This Christmas break I'm hoping to CHECK the load against a good loading manual, probably Lyman, and then work up a load. PLEASE NOTE: I HAVEN'T VERIFIED THIS LOAD! This last quarter, work has been a bottomless pit of suck, and I've had no time to do the important things... I've been neglecting my guns! <sob>  For hunting, the Hornady LeveRevolution loadings have been getting extremely high marks. I've already slipped a box into my Christmas stocking. This week in guns, I drove yesterday to the The Arsenal in Roxboro NC to pick up my new M&P 22 pistol. That I ordered back in February at the Smith & Wesson IDPA indoor nationals. Today after some yard work I plan to go to the range and do my best to give it a workout.

You guys are making me feel badly. All I've been doing is fondling my Navies, and dry firing my P30. Getting to be real familiar with that weird trigger. I would guess had there been rounds in the weapon, I would have shot at least 1,000 rounds so far. Lot cheaper dry firing.

Got my new Sidewinder holster from Jason and am trying to get the leather to "break in" and start to conform to my waist before I start using it with the gun at a match.
