Here's my favorite piece,  mid 90s Marlin 1895 45-70.  Skinner backup sights with a Bushnell trophy red dot.  With a minute men cartridge holder and  WWG bear proof ejector.

Very cool!

Someday... a Marlin 1895 Cowboy will follow me home.

But, what exactly is a trunk rifle?

Trunk Rifle is a commonly used term for those of us that carry a longarm in our vehicle in case of impending doom. I personally prefer the autoloading platform for that application.

Ah, I see.  No trunk monkey here.  My employer has a zero tolerance policy on guns and ammunition brought onto company property.  Backs it up using scent dogs.

Put coffee in your trunk - it's suppose to trash the dog's nose for a while.

Same here. Since I often go to the range before, or after work, I often have my AR / shotgun / pistols in the car with me.

Steve,

Which optic is that on your rifle?  How do you like it?

Thanks,

It is a Millett DMS1 and I am pretty happy with it considering I got it for less than $200. The illumination is kind of worthless in bright light but I have no problem picking up targets in bright light so it's not a big issue for me.

Spray your trunk with CS or MACE.  Makes the car unusable, but it will toss off the dogs. Grin

LMAO! Man, Recon, you have one warped sense of humour! This is probably going to be the SECOND remark of yours that will stick with me for days. Your other one still cracks me up from time to time as I think of it.
