I was able to get with Jon Payne of Suarez Intl. and we will be bringing their Close Range Gun fighting class to Dallas in May.

Here is the link for details.
http://www.suarezinternationalstore.com/may28-292011-closerangegunfighting-dallastx.aspx

It sounds like it will be a lot of fun, and a lot to learn.  I can't wait.

Hope to see some of you there.

<edit> plans now look like myself and a buddy will be attending....

For other items mentioned in previous posts, berms on all side are not required to get trainers to come. Any decent piece of land will do as I took some Tactical Response classes on a ranch down in Brady, TX. It was a merely a field with a berm backstop.

Elm Fork probably would not let someone else come in as there is an instructor and former SWAT officer, P.J. Pilling of Tiger Valley www.tigervalley.com, that teaches there already.

I thought about trying to see if the Dallas Pistol Club would allow a trainer to come in but as already mentioned, their requirements for reloading and barrel positioning would not work very well in a class.

I will be interviewing Jon Payne tomorrow night about the upcoming course and I'll be including it in next week's podcast.  Stay tuned...

I am pleased to announce that not only will Jon and I be talking tonight and making a podcast out of it, but I will be at this class.  Many of you here in Texas have been emailing me asking to shoot with me.  This would be a good opportunity to do that.  As you know I took this class last year.  I will be repeating it because I need the practice.  I have not and will not buy any more guns this year, I have enough for now.  My money is going to practice and training this year.  I suggest that yours does too.  For those of you in Texas, especially in North Texas and Oklahoma...get to this class.

Many thanks to Scott (the OP) for setting this up!  Nice job, buddy.  I didn't have the time to set it up and you took the lead.  I will however, promote it.  If you recall, I did 2 podcasts about this last summer, I think it was Episode's 90 and 91, you may want to go back an listen to them.

When you speak to John again, could you ask about what ammo is allowed, holsters allowed, etc. I believe that they don't allow the Serpa (which I don't/wouldn't use myself) unless their policy changed recently. I'm curious if IWBs that are used in everyday concealed carry are allowed (I'm guessing so since I think you used an AIWB last time but) or only OWB belt holsters.  I can't tell if they allow us to shoot reloads to save expense.

I can answer part of that, but I'll bring him on again in a couple weeks, when I took the class, you're right, Serpa's were discouraged.  Any IWB or OWB holster is fine, but it must be the type that doesn't collapse.  So no soft leather or nylon.  A good IWB, AIWB or OWB leather or kydex with good retention and you're fine.  Any kind of ammo is allowed, but you're better off with just FMJ practice or target loads.  It's cheaper than hollow points, usually.  Reloads are fine, but make sure you've reloaded them properly. Squib loads or kabooms are no fun and dangerous to you and other students.  Factory ammo is probably best.  Plan on at least 700-800 rounds.  I went to Walmart after the first day because I didn't bring enough.  Too much ammo is better than too little.

Myself and two buddies are signed and ready to go. One of them said, 'now we need to go out and train before we go'.  Roll Eyes Isn't that kinda' like brushing and flossing real well only before going to the dentist.  Cheesy
