Ok, I got my fancy gold IDPA membership card and a nifty hat and a magazine with a lovely redhead shooting an XDm on the cover.
So how do I find out when and where to shoot a classifier? I've looked on the calendars of the clubs in my area that I plan to shoot matches at and haven't seen anything mentioned. Are classifiers sometimes shot after regular matches?
Also, now that I'm a member, I'm assuming I'm automatically in the Novice class until I shoot a classifier. Is that correct?
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Chaz, Clubs are supposed to hold a Classifier at least once a year. Not all do. Check with the Match Directors. Sometimes they can be prompted to hold a Classifier if enough shooters show interest. You will be listed as Unclassified, until you shoot a classifier. And, you must be classified in the gun division you are shooting if you intend to shoot a santioned match. It can be a PITA, at times. Chris Christian

Oh man! I wish I knew before! We just had our first Classifier last Saturday and you could have used the excuse to have a weekend in Miami away from the snow
