.
Just be sure to take that little wonder to the range.  Years - oh, hell - decades ago a buddy bought one.  Then he made the mistake of trying to shoot it. To put it in today's vernacular; it couldn't hit the broadside of Rosie O'Donnell's butt.  He sold it so fast none of us got a chance to see it.

However, that was then. If you find the new Henry AR-7 is a shooter, I, for one, would be really interested in hearing your report.

I would be interested in hearing a report as well. I have been wanting one for my hiking pack. Sometimes its fun to plink after a day of hiking but a full sized .22 is hard to fit in a pack and can be quite heavy. 2.5lb sounds much better then the 4.5-5lb of a 10/22 (Weights were taken from Henry repeating arms and rugers websites)

Henry has been making this for years as the US Survival Rifle.  I believe they bought it from Charter who bought it from Armalite.  This is the first time I've seen it from Henry with the AR-7 nomenclature, though.  Kind of cool to see it's origins back in the branding.

Ehh.  I had one, 30-ish years ago, when a previous incarnation of Charter Arms made them.  Not reliable.  I eventually traded it off for a 740K 3.5" floppy drive.  This was when guns were cheaper, and floppies more expensive.  Nevertheless, I won't be doing anything like that again.

I kind of wish I still had it, just to tinker with.

Some of the details of this one look different from the older version.  Nevertheless, if I were to need a "survival .22", I think I'd skip the AR7 in favor of a 10/22 with folding stock and the shortest barrel they'll let me have in this benighted state.
