My name is Bill and I'm an amateur gunsmith.  so far I've built 2 rifles, a m96 mauser and a m98 mauser.  The 96 kept the mil barrel but I did have it re-contoured.  They are both in Boyd's stocks.  I am currently re-doing the 96 with a new dakota bolt handle (from 4d reamers) and a re-shapped trigger guard.  I will coat it with Dura-coat.
The 98 has an Adams and Bennet .30-06 barrel with a muzzle brake.
Next project is a Savage Model 30 series B shotgun restoration.  Slow rust blue and gold inlay in the engraving.  The stock will also be refinished.

Nice! ?What twist is the .30-'06 barrel.

You clearly have skills way beyond mine, although I understand at least some of what has to go into such a project. ?Did you put in posts to hold the action in the stock. I am presuming you glass-bedded it and floated the barrel.

Mauser actions are SUCH great actions. They are generally the preferred actions for most custom rifle works, unless you go to one of the benchie type frames.
