We need to get this thing on the calendar so it can be voted on. It passed the Senate two years ago in the previous session, along with this one, but the House didn't put it on their calendar so it died. I hope it doesn't see the same fate this time to. We need to put some pressure on these guys if possible.
I am following this bill and get emails with every update. It looks like it's moving fast through the process. Here is a screen shot for your reference. http://goo.gl/8XFzMYipper, been sent to 'Calendars' but not *put* on the calendar for a vote. It's been sitting there for almost two weeks now according to the TSRA. What else can we do? I have emailed my representative but they are one of the authors. I really want this to pass.

Looks like this finally passed. Not because of previous lack of votes but because it never got to the floor. Overwhelmingly voted in favor of in the Texas House as well.

Not sure when the governor will sign it, but as far as I know the effective date will be September once it is passed.

All, I hope you find this helpful: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/history.aspx?LegSess=82R&Bill=SB321is the specific link to the Texas Legislature Online (TLO) You can enroll for any updates and movements on any bills currently underway. Not to duplicate, I have earlier posted some other links in the forum at the below link. http://gunrightsradio.com/forums2/index.php/topic,6344.0.htmlif the link fails, you can navigate to the General Category "Action Alerts", then to "Texans - A Call to Action" I hope this gets more involved in tracking and contacting their legislators in our state.

September is a long time to wait. It's not like I am going to announce it to everyone at my place of work, but it fires me up that laws that make sense are getting passed in Texas. Ye Ha!

That was Eric Shelton of the Handgun Podcast and I always loved it when he said that. Hope he comes back soon and yes, we are making tons of progress!

Bob,
As a follow up to my Call to Action and questions of a few months ago on opinions in relation to the application of SB321 in Texas I can present the following from one employer here in El Paso. You may remember that I had asked for any Executive, HR, or legal input on how companies in Texas planned to comply with the new law. Below is my experience with one employer.
A large company that will remain nameless in such a public forum, had until September 1st 2011 as a policy under Texas Penal Code 30.06 availed themselves of the right to restrict in Texas, citizens from keeping in their vehicles their means of protection while parking in a secured employee parking area. This did not keep the same citizens from parking and storing their guns outside of the secured area. While there will be no public announcement of the policy change as a result of the law application, the security staff and management is aware that the PC 30.06 sign must now be removed. The company has submitted a work order to remove the sign. Until then, no employees will be questioned or hassled in reference to any weapons. This company does still maintain its legal policy of restricting weapons on premises.
Better to make progress than to lose ground.
Keep up the good Work Bob!!!!

It's now officially a law in Texas. September 1, 2011. Now I can ask a co-worker about our match after work and not worry about an anti-gun or pro-crime person listening around the corner. If they tried to turn us into HR, we would be legal.
