A few days ago it was time to get a new cell phone and I decided to go with the HTC EVO. There are several things that I like about the new phone and first on the list is tall 4.3 inch screen. At first when you look at it, you think that that may be a little too big. I find that the new screen makes doing things on the phone so much easier like being able to load up all those applications because of the greatly increased internal storage. Those applications all run much faster to with the new 1 GHz processor. See my old phone only had a 600 MHz processor and it could not handle many of the applications very well. Even though my old phone had much more processor power than let's say my first 286 computer which its processor was rated at 16 MHz. How times have changed.

So last night I started looking for some additional applications of interest to load on the phone and stumbled upon "Read It Later". Read It Later has been described as a DVR (digital video recorder) for the web. DVR's are liked by most people because it allows them to save content that they can watch at a later time and when they do they can bypass all the commercials. So that's what Read It Later does. It allows you to tag news stories webpages and other interesting things on the Internet and then read it later at your convenience without the commercials (ads) on multiple different devices. They have applications for all the different browsers and many of the phones.

I scan the posts for items of interest, particularly since I'm in the market for a new phone as well.   Looks like the EVO for Sprint is like the Thunderbolt from Verizon?

Yeah that's what it looks like, and I think the T-Bolt is probably going to be the solid winner between those two.

mistertaco,

I tried instapaper after I purchased my Kindle. It was my hopes to be able to tag stories in the evening that than I could read the next day while at work. Didn't quite work out that way. I found that not all the stories would be complete and there were other formatting problems. Also it was only a one way path, can only save the stories on the browser.

Read It Later allows you to do it both ways. With their mobile app I can save stories on my phone and read them when I get home. Or what I originally wanted to do is save stories in the evening and read them when I have time at work. Without all the other clutter of the webpage.

Instapaper 's not appear to have their own phone application. There are some third-party ones out there but it looked like most of them were not free. But neither was the Read It Later App.

Instapaper has been one of my go-to apps for a good while.

Indeed. I'd like to try "read it later" since they have an android app that's not third party.

Thanks, Lee

Installed RIL today and so far, I really like the formatting. Good stuff.
