Pocket Casts is the best podcast manager I have found for my android phone. If you do a search you can find GRRN podcasts to listen to using the manager.

Nice. It looks like it is on sale on Amazon, too. $0.99 vs $2.82 in the Android Market.

I use dogcatcher and it is fabulous.  I get some mobile video casts, RSS feeds, and podcasts on it, and it waits for me to choose to download them, not auto-downloads in order for me to see what is new (I get to see what's in the podcast before downloading... unlike the pelosi-method of podcast management).  Great app.

I'm an Android user (Droid X) but don't currently use a Podcast App. Most times when I use my phone to listen to shows, it is while cutting the grass, working outside, etc. The problem I find most frequently is that I can't listen to a given episode in a single sitting. Does Dogcatcher or Pocket Casts allow you to resume where you left off?

Right now I do one of two things when I want to listen on the go. First, I add the podcast RSS Feed to Google Reader and play the episode through the Google Reader Mobile Site. If the podcast isn't one that I have in my feed reader, I download the episode (either manually or with iTunes) to a folder I have synced to Google Music, then I play it from there.

If there was something that would allow me to listen to a portion of a podcast, then allow me to pick up where I left off later, it would be perfect for my situation. I think I have this option on my iTouch with iTunes, but I rarely use the device anymore since I have a smartphone.

Pocket Casts does display how much of the podcast you still have before you finish it. In the settings you can also select whether you would like it to automatically after you have completed them.

Also for times when I cannot find a podcast in Pocket Casts own directory that is part of the app. I use a chrome extension in my browser called "Google Chrome to Phone Extension". this way I can go to a podcast website and click on their RSS feed then I click on "Google Chrome to Phone Extension" and it sends the RSS to my phone's web browser where I copy and paste the link into Pocket Casts. Works great for a lot of new podcasts that are not yet in directories.

I really wanted to like Pocket Casts but its always crashing on me. The audio just stops. Half the time I have trouble getting it to restart the episode I was listening to. I have to start up something else and then go back to it. Sometimes it remembers where I was, sometimes I have to start the show over again and skip to where I was. I'm trying out the BeyondPod app as I type this.

You have run into one of the great big drawbacks for developers on android. There are just too many different handsets to test your software against. I know I receive updates every day for my phone to fix a problem that turns out to be for another phone and not mine. Remember when you purchase an application it's important to use it and test it right away. If you find a problem uninstall the app within 15 min. and you will be refunded automatically. I have done this in the past and waited for a new version and then tested it again. Also if you do not find problems with the application within such a short period of time. Contact the developer from their website and let them know what the problem is. Do not post a bad review yet in the review section, at least until you have given them an opportunity to fix your problem. Believe me they do appreciate it and I have had them respond very quickly to my requests.

Recently I asked a developer to add a feature to an application that I thought would be very useful to myself and they thought it was a good enough idea that they did within two weeks.

I've been a supporter of android and the developers who dev for it for quite some time.

I've actually been in back and forth communication with the dev for podcast and their ultimate answer was to reboot my phone. Doing that multiple times to listen to an entire podcast is right out!

I don't mind having paid for it, as I can come back to it after they've updated a few times and see if it works. The program really has a lot of potential, I love the way its set up, it just doesn't currently work for me.

No longer am I recommending the anyone purchase Pocket Cast. It's a application for the iPhone/iPod Touch and Android to subscribe and stream podcasts. It used to work very well on both platforms. But lately they have made some updates that has made it less reliable on both platforms. They have an attitude that their application just isn't for everyone and have not been very responsive about fixing the problems. Even though I have purchased the application 3 times.
