How do you load your mags to shoot a classifier? I know the rulebooks say to load to Division Capacity but I've heard some SO's will let you load to mag capacity. Shooting my first Classifier Saturday and am trying to be as efficient as possible so as not hold things up.

Thanks!

You'll have to check with the club. I have shot the classifier both ways.

I have shot a several different clubs and none follow the division capacity rule. I was always under the impression, and I could be wrong, but when shooting the classifier, division capacity restrictions and concealment garments are not required. The only time those rules are enforced is if the classifier is being shot as part of a match.

Using 3 mags, this is my load for the classifier;

Stage 1
9-12-9

Stage 2
12-6-12

Stage 3
7-13-10

I'm not sure how the club I shoot at handles this, I know that rules call for division capacities on mags for the classifier. Thanks

Even on the IDPA Forums this topic is always rearing it's head. It seems to be a 50/50 split on what is the correct answer. Yes the book answer is loaded to division capacity, but many clubs bend this rule to speed up the process. It falls to the Club to specify how the magazines are to loaded and the classifier is to be run. The quote I have heard is since the statement of the "loaded to division capacity" is after the "If the classifier is part of a scored match" statement, then this qualifies the division capacity to only be part of a scored match classifier.

I had a bad experience at one club that would not let me re-shoot. I had a mental malfunction that cost me almost 10 seconds, which is specifically mentioned in the rule book, but the club interpreted the rule how they wanted.

There are pros and cons to loading in this manner, the squads do move faster.
BUT what about the sad look on your face if you have a ammo malfunction and just ejected your last round, when having been loaded properly would have given you plenty.
Just a thought.....your mileage may very.
