Took the kids to the Pima Air and Space Museum yesterday, and checking out some of the display cases in the side hangers, found this little beauty. Though some of you guys might enjoy it.

Thanks for posting this. Any 1911 is worth looking at. But I can't read anything in the pic that tells me anything about it.

?WHO owned it. ?What is its history. Give us more info!

Saw one like that - maybe the same one - at the Chino Air Museum. 

IIRC, the plastic came from the windscreen of a wrecked airplane, and the very rare color photo was of his girlfriend, later wife.  The left stock featured his unit's insignia? - Navy? The pilot shaped the stocks over the course of a year, between flights.

But, I've slept since then...

Sadly, there was little info posted about it. However, now that I have my membership to the PA&SM, I intend to go back soon and see if the guys working that hanger have more info about it. I think CF may have gotten it though. Can't be many like this one out there.
