i left out Snatch, definitely one of my favs.  great flick, almost the same cast as 'two smoking barrels' if you haven't see them, they are well worth it.

The transporter flicks are damn good too.

Departed
Deadwood
The quick and the dead (kind of lame, but some how still good)
Tombstone
Another one of my all time favs is "Big Trouble in Little China" - "...This is gonna take crackerjack timing, Wang"

This is a war flick, not a shoot 'em up, but there is nothing better than 'Band of Brothers' mini series.

All of the above are good, but I'm stil a big fan of " Open Range " with Costner and Duval.

I'm glad somebody mentioned Desperado, that's one of my all-time favorites.

I loved the 1st Transporter flick, but the 2nd one was so bad I won't even take a chance on the 3rd.  How can one franchise be responsible for one of my favorite movies, AND be one of the 7 movies that was so awful I walked out of it?

For the lighter side of gun fighting, that is if you like a good laugh with your shootout, go for HOT FUZZ. And for all you zombie shooters out there SHAUN OF THE DEAD is another excellent laugh.

These both are british comedies w/ the same star Simon Pegg. They're absolutely hilarious and have big shoot-em ups as the payoff.

Shaun of the Dead was great.  Some of my favorite shooter flicks are British, they sure do know how to make a great... hey, wait a minute... guns, Brits, how does that work.....!?!

Formula 51 was another good one.

I saw Formula 51 when I was stationed in England, where it was called The 51st State.  Nothing like Samuel L. Jackson in a kilt!  LOL.

I don't watch Guy Ritchie flicks (e.g. Lock, Stock and Snatch) for the action, but I love 'em just the same.

Was hugely let down by Hot Fuzz!  I know I'm about the only person who was, too.  So sad.  I went and rewatched Tears of the Sun after that one.  Speaking of which, when they're clearing the village in Tears, if you watch carefully you can see one of the actors' pistol is out of battery...  LOL.  The things I notice, now.

Has nobody mentioned Shooter, yet?  I think I liked the book, "Point of Impact" better, but it was still a good flick.

Anybody seen Max Payne?  I haven't yet...

Dittos on Equilibrium!  A much better movie than I expected!

Shooter - that was the one with Marky Marky, i saw it, wasn't all that memorable, but it may be worth another look.

It would've been better with the Funky Bunch, no doubt.

all the Transporter movies...SUCKED.  If you didn't think the first was fakey and over the top of course the second was a disappointment.
I did really like Equilibrium the first time I saw it, though now I'm not too sure, I just watched it again, found it in the rental store.
I liked the The Shooter until the last few minutes.
By the way the first Quick and the Dead was better than the one with Leonardo DaCrappio,  By the way he was REALLY good in Blood Diamond, and am looking forward to seeing him in the new something-or-other spy flick.

Now that I've seen it on Eric's suggestion, I have to say Shoot Em Up is a film completely devoid of anything resembling reality... but also fun as hell.

hey in case you guys are curious, I just saw Apaloosa and I enjoyed it.  My favorite part was...the two leads were in a shoot-out, got wounded and were lying on the ground, and the top dog lead say something like "and all of them could shoot".  I head that and guffawed really loudly.  I recommend this movie.

ya know what... I've been thinking about it, and I gotta say that Hot Fuzz was one of my favorite gun fights.  There is nothing like a serious gun fight in a sleepy town in the middle of England Smiley

I think the one franchise missing from all of these is the Die Hard series. Those were some serious shoot 'em ups. Come to think of it, most of Bruce Willis's action flicks have been pretty decent shoot 'em ups.

Wow there are some great choices, I cannot limit my choice to one:

Equilibrium (I am glad others have checked it out)
Heat (Bank Robbery)
Any Bullet Ballet (The Killer, Hardboiled, A Better Tomorrow. etc...)
Wanted
History of Violence
Enemy at the Gates
Scarface

I am sure there are others...
