Regarding barrier penetration:

Isn't bullet design and construction more important than caliber? I note the use of .357 Sig for reasons of better barrier penetration, but also note that Skarz apparently made sure he loads it with a bonded round. Memory says I've seen a written report where 9mm Corbon DPX reliably 'went deep' when fired into a vehicle. DPX is all-copper using he Barnes X design. Bonded rounds are always recommended when the discussing how to get through barriers. So it seems that the design of the bullet, what it's made of, and how it's constructed, is more important than what caliber it is.

Bullet design - and make-up - certainly are a factor. But consider this. 9mm runs at 34,000 psi. The .357 Sig runs at 40,000 psi (both SAAMI limits). Pressure will also affect your bullet performance.

I'm just glad I'm not limited to 10 rounds. However for those who are, .357sig seems real attractive. Especially given the fact that a .357sig Glock can easily be converted to .40cal or 9mm.  If its your only gun and you're limited to 10 rounds, I would say .357sig and get a .40 cal barrel and use that for practice and training. If its not your only gun, get a 9mm and a .357sig and load them with either Corbon DPX or Ranger T series +p+. Either way you'll be well armed.

I just got my GSSF coupon in the mail last week and was trying to decide if I am going to buy anything this year.  I think I will wait and shoot the match in May first to see if I win one before I decide.

Since I am limited in what guns I already own, I choose to carry good ammo in them. I'm partial to the Winchester Ranger T 127 grain +P+ in 9mm.

It's really annoying having to use the 10 round mags for the Glock 17 since I travel to California. It's like the
Mags are neutered or something.

Trucker, I too carry Winchester Ranger T series 9mm 127gr +p+ or Corbon DPX 115gr.  My Kahr PM9 seems to like the Corbon better and of course my Glocks eat anything. 

However, I think a Glock 32 is in my near future.

I carry a Glock 23 in 40 S&W Hornady Critical Defense.  I have a Lone Wolf 357 Sig barrel for this gun.  I have had zero FTF's or FTE's with the aftermarket barrel.  I'm really thinking of carrying it in 357 Sig.  I do find the recoil a bit more harsh than the 40.

What is the PSI on 9mm +P and +P+ typically as I would wager most people carrying a 9 are using either +P Golddots or +P+ Winchester Ranger, so I think that is a more interesting comparison to .357 SIG?
