Welcome John.  I think your expertise is subject many of us need to learn more about, including me.  I don't often think about "tactical medicine" and your SWAT team experience should blend in nicely.  Glad you're here.

Bob, while I do train EMT's and paramedics to function on SWAT teams, I also am a huge believer that every person needs to know some basic first aid. Just as you like to say "I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop", I believe every person also needs to know how to take care of themselves or a loved one in a medical emergency, because you can't carry a paramedic! Towards that goal, I teach a series of trauma medicine classes through Suarez International, and have recently published a book on the same subject. Whether your battle is with thugs, terrorists, or the Grim Reaper, just hoping for the best isn't going to cut it. You need knowledge and training. I hope to offer some of each to the members here, while at the same time learning from all of you.
