Enjoyed the Podcast on Radios

I sure did enjoy the show about radios.  I agree, it's something everyone should own.  I've been listening to shortwave since the late 90's.  I first bought a Sony ICF-7600 portable, and loved it.  In particular, it has a synchronous detection feature (don't ask me how it works, I have no idea), that helps the radio lock in on a frequency and pull it in for better reception.  Loved that radio.

Unfortunately, I dropped it so many times it finally fell apart.  I tried to replace it with a Grundig 4000A, which was good and had a better speaker, but I missed the better reception of the Sony.  I eventually bought another Sony 7600, and would recommend it to anyone interested in a higher level shortwave radio.  The good shortwave radios also excel at bringing in long distance AM stations, especially at night.

The number of shortwave broadcasters is nowhere near what it was in the 90's, but there are still enough out there to keep it interesting.  These days, one can hear more programs off the internet, but frankly, I don't like the idea that somewhere, someone could keep a record of everything I listen to, and I prefer the radio instead.
