Well, Doc, from listening to a fair portion of your broadcast last night, I can only say, they WEREN'T thinking.

Yes, there are interesting, well designed pieces out there. Ruger has made a number of fine additions to the arsenal we have available to us. But much of what you see is just "me, too"-ism. I look at all the Colt SAA clones, and most are simply attempts to cash in on cowboy shooting. So are many of the 1911's that have come out - attempting to get "in on" the centennial of that creation.

Business consists of people with ideas - and dopes who also run. The latter generally are devoid of any original thoughts and just hope they can make some cash on a trend. I like Sig, but sometimes I think they make models with the same thinking. They come out with a 224 - and advertise it as a 226 with some of the slide cut off. But you can't put a 224 slide on a 226. ?How smart is that.

OTOH I believe a gold-plated Dessert Eagle IS the nads! ( Cool Grin)

Dev,
Yes.. there are some crazy things offered.. I think sometimes marketing thinks they know better than other folks...
Bottom line.. I guess it is all about the $$$...
Yes.. SIG is an excellent example!  For the past few years, they have really jumped into mixing and matching those that now don't match... AND now everyone is trying to jump in in the lower cost market... like the CM 9 as an example...
As for the Gold DE.... that is messed up............  I still want a DE in 44... i wouldn't turn a gold one down.. but....    hehe....

I would love to have a DE in gold/chrome - just to say I had it. But I sure wouldn't PAY for it. Have to be gifted to me.

But I DO have one in regular blue - in .44 Mag. It was actually the first .44 mag I bought. It was so nice to shoot that round in that I decided I had to have one. Later I got a Blackhawk with Hogue grips that make your knuckle under the trigger guard, so it doesn't come off when you shoot it. Nice, too. But that DE is really something else. Found a guy up in Alaska that makes these nice "shoulder" holsters (sort of - it hangs infront of you more or less) that go OVER your coat. GREAT for hunting. I have taken it deer hunting - didn't shoot anything, but it was easy to wear. Has a place for an extra mag. Two mags of .44 - you can do some damage with that.

Friend of mine who sold me the gun also wanted to sell me a DE in .50 AE. Lordy, that was a HUGE round. Made a .44 look kind of puny. I decided that it was more than I wanted to mess with. Then last summer  was hanging around an outdoor range up in Wisconsin and a guy had TWO with him. He let me shoot a magazine - not bad. Jumps as you might imagine, but not nearly as bad as a Model 29, and this was that .50 AE.
