When I was younger, I always needed a justification for an interest in any particular firearm. It had to have some primary advantage (whether in capacity, power, concealability, etc.) for me to be interested. However, as I get older, I find myself more interested in certain models just because I enjoy them, or think I would enjoy them.
So, what are some guns that you just...enjoy? In other words, guns you really like, not because they hold a bucket full of the latest master-blaster gelatin slaying ammo, not because they're practical or tactical, but just because they bring a big smile to your face when you pull them out?
I'll list one. I won a Colt 1903 32 acp from Eric Shelton's first 6% contest a couple years ago. I never would have considered buying one before. After all, it's an old design, fairly heavy for its size, and is only reliable with FMJ rounds which aren't exactly known for terminal effectiveness. But man oh man, I love that little pistol. Minimal recoil, plenty accurate, and fits my hand like a glove. Something about shooting that 90 year old pistol, a model once carried by both gangsters and cops, makes it pretty darn special to me.

These are some of my fav's: Marlin 1895SBL 45-70, S&W500 revolver, Beretta CX4 in 9mm, Remington coach double barrel shotgun, and Saiga-12 shotgun. I just get a big smile when I shoot them. I should also throw the Colt 1911 into that list too.

Anything 4 inches spitting wadcutters in .38 cal is so much fun to shoot. But I can't pass the fun of a Marlin 60 SB with a micro-grooved barrel sending bullets down range and moving golf balls and cans all around the place.

Ah yes, fire-breathers, straight-shooters, and old ballistic friends.
I'll add another one I love just for the sheer heck of it. An S&W 629, just because I love the feel of a heavy, long barreled revolver, the huge flame coming out of the barrel, and a muzzle blast which seems to cause the ground to compress under my feet for just a moment. It's expensive to shoot, not practical for concealed carry, and I doubt I'll be in danger of carnivorous bears anytime soon. But man, I sure do love shooting it.

Ah, what a great freakin' topic, TJ!
Gotta say: it's ALL of the Western arms I use in SASS: The Win '66 Yellowboy Lever, the Ruger Old Model Vaquero Bisleys, the Chinchester 1897, the Marlin 1895 Cowboy in 45-70, etc, etc, etc.... Even the SW1911 and '73 45LC 26" Lever I use in SASS Wild Bunch. Big time grins every time I compete with them!
And, then there's the Garand... Be still my beating heart!

TJ, I can't LIST all the guns I get a kick out of.
Like CF, I love the old Western stuff. Grew up on western shows. Never thought I'd go for a lever gun, then I got my first one for SASS, and now I own about 7.
My old Commander. It has gone a lot of distance with me.
My Ace Conversion, which I happen to have on a SS Colt frame. Just a fun .22 to shoot.
My Sig 226 in 9mm
An old Remington .22 take-down, built on the Browning design. Neat little rifle that's darn accurate.
My Remington 700 Safari in .375 H&H.
And that ain't HALF of them! Guns are just fun!

Actually every gun I own, I own cause I like shooting them. That being said most of them are "useful" and not just fun guns. I even enjoy shooting my DB9 as long as it is only a magazine or 2. I think my ultimate fun gun is my 10-22. It is just fun to shoot cans or paper or anything with a .22 I think. On the other end I love shooting my Garand as well, but being in the city I don't have any long range ranges close enough to really get maximum enjoyment with the gun. The sound of it shot in an indoor range is pretty impressive and really makes a lot of shooters nearby jump, but you can only do so much at 25 yards.
I think I have the most fun with either the 10/22 or my Glocks, even though though the Glocks were bought with the purpose of self defense.

SEVEN levers!?! Why, I only have... errr... umm... six.
And that's not counting the Marlin '94 that I officiously own, but SHMBO... err... appropriated... and then installed a pink butt cover so I'd never be tempted to shoot it again.
Levers, they do get under your skin. Fortunately, I've only got another four... to ten... maybe twelve... that I have to add to my collection.

Now that's just flat-out cool. It raises an interesting reason for enjoying a gun for the sheer heck of it...because of a film or TV show.
Which possibly explains my completely unreasonable desire to own a Bren Ten and/or S&W 4506 (was a huge fan of Miami Vice back in the day).

OK. So we have these lists of guns we like.
But honestly - ?don't a lot of you cycle. You like these couple for a bit, then you move to another batch and shoot those for a bit, then on to yet another group. Then maybe back to something from before.
I catch myself wandering about shooting this and that. I have lately been shooting a lot of .22 (probably because I only have about 20,000 rounds of that lying about). So I pulled out this old Smith that I have - a .22 target wheelie. WOW! Does that beauty SHOOT! Once again I was reminded why I bought it. Guess I will have to drag out the S&W J-frame and the Model 19 for some range time now, just to get wheelies out of my system for a bit.
