I can't explain why, but I've had a fascination for years with the Beretta Tomcat.  Maybe it's the tip up barrel, the fact that it's a non-polymer mouse gun, or maybe it's the fact that shooting a Colt 1903 has become too easy and I need another 32 acp.

Regardless, does anyone have any experience with the Tomcat?  After doing some research, it seems that the Inox model is the way to go.  I've seen allegations on the internet that the regular non-Inox Tomcat is prone to slide crackage, but I'm not sure how reliable that info is.

Not looking for a primary, or even a secondary weapon.  Big revolvers fill those niches for me.  Just looking for another 32 acp that's fun to shoot.

Made the plunge over the weekend.  Bought a bee-yoo-tiful Tomcat at a gun show.  It's the "Chechen" version, with really good looking dark brown wooded grips.  Dang, I can't stop looking it at.  I am such a sucker for a good looking pistol.

The owner's manual says don't shoot 32 acp ammo which exceeds 130 ft lbs of muzzle energy.  Most US made 32 acp ammo is well under that mark, but the European ammo (e.g., Fiocchi) exceeds that level.  That might explain the slide-breakage issue in some of the guns.

That energy limit is fine with me.  I'm planning on trying out hand loads written up by Ed Harris, 94 grain flat nose cast bullets at around 750 fps.

It's sure a great looking little gun.  After checking out multiple polymer framed 32's and 380's, I couldn't resist steel and wood....again.

Oops.  Here we go.  Not a very good picture, the color in this photo does it no justice at all, but you get the idea.
