Hi all! My name is Eddie. I am unfortunately from NJ. I just got into shooting in November of 2011 so I am quite new. I purchased me first firearm in March of this year. I listen to several of the GRRN podcasts. I love living vicariously through them knowing that I will most likely never get to carry concealed in this state. We have a few organizations that are fighting the great fight like the NJ Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) and the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC). We are making some progress but not close to moving mountains.

I look forward to learning a lot here and continuing to listen to the podcasts. If any of the podcasters want to talk to me about the misery in NJ I am game if you are LOL. Be safe everyone and God bless.

Welcome Eddie!

Never give up hope on concealed carry. While New Jersey may be drug to it kicking and screaming, they will get there. I am hopeful the Supreme Court will move them there in the next few years.

Welcome Eddie - from CA, where we've got it almost as bad as you guys in jersey. But we've been making progress a little bit at a time - sometimes it's been a matter of stopping/slowing the anti's forward progress, but it's still some improvement. Don't give up - and be sure to support your state and local organizations!

Paul,
Thanks for the welcome. I haven't checked out your podcast yet but I am downloading a few episodes now. I'm looking forward to listening.

Bill,
Thanks for the welcome. I always thought CA was worse than NJ. Now I feel worse LOL! Let's both keep fighting the fight!

Eddie, I don't think our laws in CA are necessarily better than yours, we just have a few regions that are conservative and pro-gun in spite of the politicians in Sacramento, whereas what I understand about jersey is that they're anti-gun pretty much everywhere and the police are pretty antagonistic towards gun owners.

Welcome Eddie.  I think you will find this a very friendly place.

I have a question about your state.  Is it true civilians can't own hollowpoint ammo?  If so, what do y'all use for defense ammo?

Ah, good old NJ. Do the cops still make it a point to never go down Perry Street no matter what?

Jed,
That is not true. We can own JHP. It can only be transported from the place of purchase to a land/building/home you own with no deviation in between. Also there are some guidelines that allow for hunting use. Outside of those exemptions it is illegal. So you can use it for home defense and hunting (as long as you have a hunting license and its transported properly only between home and hunting grounds with no deviation in between). You can not use it as carry ammo. Although barely anyone in this state has a carry permit because of the "justifiable cause" clause which is virtually impossible to meet.

I see, thanks.  Well, that's a little bit better than I was originally told.  Again, welcome.

Several ammo manufacturer's make a collapsable, mushrooming FMJ/TMJ specifically for places that don't allow JHP's. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I probably am, isn't Corbon Pow-r-ball ammo (a JHP with a polymer ball shoved in the end) legal in NJ since it's not technically "Hollowpoint"?
