I've been bitten by the quiet bug. I have a couple suppressors purchased and am now waiting for the stamp before I can pick them up. Anybody messed around with subsonic loads in any of their guns?

Yeah, the law is what is making me wait 6-8 months before I can take the suppressors home... But, in the meantime, I'm trying to get some decent subsonic loads developed. The difficult part is that the ammo craze has eaten up most of the powders--making it nearly impossible to find what I need.

Cool cool. I actually have an AR upper in 300 blk. It's a great round and I'm pretty converted as far as using it for self-defense. There's plenty of reloading data for those heavier bullets that are subsonic. I'm looking to SBR an AR lower and run a 10.5" 300 blk upper with a can. Of course that's pending the boatload of money that's going to cost.

?How did we let this happen to us. ?Why is it that we need "permission" to own these - and pay outrageous prices for something eminently practical.

Hollywood did that, back in the John Dillinger days. ?How did we let this happen to us. ?Why is it that we need "permission" to own these - and pay outrageous prices for something eminently practical.

Personally, I'd like to see (and not hear) a lot more suppressed firearms out there. The range would be safer on ears. We put mufflers on cars to keep the noise down! I'd love to have a few of these for my small collection of regularly fired weapons, but the extra $200, significant paperwork and time all to be listed in another government database just isn't worth it to me yet.

yeah, once you shoot a gun with a suppressor, it makes you wonder why they are a regulated item. Everyone should be shooting with suppressors. Suppressors do not sound like they do in the movies, but they do make most guns/calibers hearing safe (safe to shoot without hearing protection).

I was lucky enought to share the local range with a few people in a substantially higher tax bracket than I am, who were more than happy to let my try out a few of their supressed guns. They had a few .22 pistols, as well as numerous ARs and one supressed bullpup .308. There is nothing quite like shooting supressed I must say, it was great! Now if only it wasn't to expensive and tedious to get one...

The 147 gr 9mm commercial loads are subsonic as are the Fiocci 158gr, so I would assume if you found a recipe for 147gr 9 you would have a decent subsonic load.
