Mas, quick question, I heard on your last podcast you talking about the Apex Trigger kit for a S&W J frame revolver, https://apextactical.com/store/product-info.php?pid49.htmlTheir website says it lowers the 12lb trigger down to a 9lb trigger. How do you feel about a CCW'er using that for carry? Any problem?

Bob,
One of our Pro Arms shooting team members just put an Apex kit in his new S&W 642. I don't have a shooting report from him yet, but the trigger pull was much smoother and lighter than the stock setup, which was actually quite good right out of the box. We did not weigh the trigger pull, but it was not any lighter than any of the other "tuned" J frames the rest of us carry. My first comment to him was to make sure he was getting solid primer hits and a good trigger reset. To my fingers, it felt like it was about as light as it could get and still have reliable ignition and positive trigger reset. The overall pull weight was still a long way from being a "hair trigger," however.
I'll check with him and see how it is working at the range.
I hope this helps.
Steve

It's pretty tough for anyone to call a nine pound pull a "hair trigger" ... at least, with any credibility. best, mas

Thanks. I'll likely get a 642 soon and drop in the Apex Trigger kit.

Dry firing the gun helps a bit Bob.

Let me clarify, after I give it a 1,000 round trigger job. Seriously. It might hurt and take awhile, but it will be worth it, as usual.

The 1000 rounds is something I got from you and tell you what that is perfectly possible. I did it to my J-frame in 100's each time with the Hogue grip. You'll get used to. The problem with that is it is very addictive. Please take a look at Hickock45's j frame video on YouTube. Watch the whole video. Can't get ahold of the link now. Won't be a problem finding it. Go YouTube search it, that would be the first choice shown on screen.
