I really enjoyed the 074 podcast. I saw the thread about the j frame kit, and am thinking about getting one. However, I've been thinking about getting them install in my m&p 9 and 9c. After taking MAG 40 I decided not too. However, after this show, I am thinking bout it again. I love the way the m&p's shoot for me, however I miss my Glock trigger.
What do the experts think?
Thanks
Sean

Check with S&W customer service at 1 800 331-0852 and ask them about minimum duty trigger spec weight on the M&P. If the Apex unit you're looking at doesn't go below S&W recommended minimum, I for one wouldn't worry about it.
best, mas

You can get just the trigger replaced on your M&P without changing the weight or anything. I'm considering just that for my M&Pc, since the sear has worn in almost perfectly on it.

Well, looks like the apex kit is around 5.5 and S&W said 6. So, maybe it's a no go.

Just go with getting the apex trigger ONLY, not the kit.

Do you mean the ram? Or the trigger bar?

Any thoughts/ experience with the Apex trigger for the M&P 45?
The stock trigger is a ball of suck and fail. However, it is getting noticeably better as the Bob Mayne 500 round trigger job progresses. Still has a looooong way to go.

I mean the actual trigger. The bang switch your booger hook presses to the rear. Edit: Yes! The trigger. Switch that hinge trigger to a more glock-like trigger but keep everything else the same. Also, if you're going too slow to get to the 1000 (it's not 500) round trigger job, dry fire practice is just as useful for breaking in that trigger. My M&P357c has the 1000 round trigger job (through a combination of actual range time and dry fire practice) and it breaks VERY nicely, but I really do not like the hinge trigger all that much. That apex trigger would be a nice switch without changing the broken-in nature of how the trigger trips the sear.

I put the Apex trigger kit in my M&P 45. It is a big improvement. The trigger pull still weighs out to over 6 pounds. One thing you should do is actually weigh the pull weight on a reliable gauge. I use a Lyman digital. The factory numbers that are thrown around are rarely accurate and are only useful to give you a relative sense of what a specific combination may give you. Measure for yourself and you will usually find that the spec numbers are on the low side.
