Either way, you won't have to pay a tax for not buying one :-)

Bob,

Thanks for the great video.  I posted it on Facebook and Twitter too.  There is a lot of validity to that idea of taxing people who do not take care of their own personal defense.

In Texas ( the great gun friendly state you live in) additional insurance is required if you wish to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.  The justification is that if you have an accident without one you are more likely to become a burden on the state if you don't have the insurance.

Likewise.  If I'm not willing to take responsibility for my own personal defense am I not more likely to become a burden on the state?  I think the government should give use a discount if we choose to arm ourselves to reduce the burden on and increase the efficiency of law enforcement or tax those who choose not to protect themselves and their loved ones.

I know something like this would never gain a foothold, but it's nice to dream...

Thanks

Smiley I just came back from the range and did have the chance to shoot the G19 Gen4 and tell you what ... I liked a lot. I was hit by a shell case once and thought my friends gun must be one of first ones out when they released. It didn't bother me at all and am going to sell some stuff in order to raise the money for the G19. I also shot the Shield in 40 cal and am very impressed. Mild recoil and dead on sights.

So, if I choose to buy an XD, I'm going to have to pay the tax? Huh

I had the same idea, about the same time that was posted. My comment on another forum:

Quote
Let's push for the Citizens' Protection and Violence Reduction Act of 2013.

It shall require every legal resident over the age of 18, who is not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm, to own a gun of at least .38 caliber in pistol or .223 in rifle or a shotgun, and sufficient ammunition to train and defend him or herself. Anyone failing to be so equipped within one year of enactment will be subject to a $1000 tax, annually, until so equipped.

SCOTUS said it's OK to tax into compliance.

Does that mean I get a tax discount which cancels out the obamacare penalties if I own multiple sufficiently powerful handguns?  PLEAAAAASE  Grin Grin

If that were true, I would probably get a real nice tax credit.

Oh, please gawd, no.
