One of you guys mentioned wanting a safe, but not sure if it was the way to go when you are moving all the time. Here’s a suggestion, get a modular safe. I’m living in an apartment and I’ve got the biggest one from Zanotti Armor with some custom modifications (I also keep my computer gear in there). I was basically able to drag it up two flights of stairs by myself (piece by piece) and then assemble it.

Their web site is: http://www.zanottiarmor.com/

They’re good guys.

Hey guys, heard about your podcast from the pro-arms folks. Really enjoy your instructor point of view. I retired from Air Force Security Forces, 20 yrs, then worked as contractor Firearms Instructor for the Navy MA schoool at Lackland AFB. We took the MA school students through the M-9, M-16,and M-500 courses of fire. I just listened to your podcast talking about the unintentional slamfire with the shotgun. I just wanted to let you know about an incident we had at Lackland.
We had the students out on the line, the RSO gave the range command to load and make ready(slide was already locked to the rear). As the student released the slide on a full magazine, the M-9 discharged. The RSO cleared and safed the line, brought the students behind the ready line and initiated SOP’s for the incident. The instructor was one on one with the student as the incident happened and swore up and down the student did not have his finger on the trigger. After the pistol was inspected it was found that the firing pin had broken in two and had wedged forward and slamfired upon slide release. I’d never heard of that happening before and if I hadn’t been there, I probably would not have believed it, but it is what it is and after that I always would run my index finger over the firing pin whole to ensure the firing pin was recessed during my pre-fire weapons inspection.
It’s good to here like minded podcasters, keep up the good work. I’m almost embarrased to say that l like the Berreta, I can think of a hundred other guns I’d rather carry other than the M-9, but It is a reliable, accurate pistol that will save your life if you use basic marksmanship skills. My carry Gun is a Glock 27 and I love it, but I would never feel at a disadvantage armed with a M-9. It drives me crazy to hear troops say the M-9 sucks.
Good luck to Justin on the moving to the DMZ, there are going to be elements about the military you’ll really miss, but find the right job, keep those values you learned in the Marines, and life can be pretty sweet on the outside. It’s tough on the family life, but some of the overseas contractor stuff can be pretty good.

Keep up the good work, you provide a point of view and experiance base that the other podcasts don’t….Charlie Mike.

You guys are just what us sheepdogs need. Your emphasis on the role that gross motor skills play and the “cocktail”, and firing for effect rather than grouping are some of the things that separate your advice from most of the other that is available. I know I will never have to do anything remotely like what you guys have gone through, but if even just one wolf has the misfortune of picking my house to come looking for sheep, your advice will play a significant role in how I protect my family and deal with the threat. I am a member of the USCCA, and I carry daily since January 1 of this year. Benelli Nova Pump 12 guage with ‘0′ buck for home defense. Bought an M4 after the election of our new CIC. That thing is awesome to shoot, too bad the rounds are so scarce and costly for us civies. I’d send you all I had, though, if you guys needed them. Take it easy, or any way you can get it. BZ

I have just started listening to your podcast and I wanted to let you know I find it interesting and valuable. In particular the episode that discussed color codes and others where you discuss the issues around performing under extreme stress.

I am a NRA Instructor and Training Counselor and I teach the Personal Protection classes. This is covered in the classes but my personal experience is limited. The closest I have come to it were a car accident and a near one. In both I saw it coming, had time to realize what was happening, and likely avoided serious injury or death by doing the correct thing. The world seemed to slow way down. I had time to think about what was happening and in one case I remember being frustrated that I too seemed to be moving in slow motion. I knew what I wanted to do but I could not move as fast as I wanted to. However both situations were over fairly quickly and I don’t know how much my reaction would differ if someone was actually trying to kill me.

I would appreciate hearing more about this topic. The more insights I can get the better.

Hey guys, love your podcast. I am a Navy nuclear mechanic on the USS Texas (SSN-775) and every time we pull in somewhere, be it back home or foreign port, I always make sure to download your latest episodes. I’ve shared your podcast with some of the other guys on my boat and they all enjoy it. I share a lot of your views and love hearing your stories, good luck to you Justin on the outside, I hope you guys keep up the good work. Thanks for an awesome podcast guys.

Hey guys.

Thanks for taking the time to put out a great podcast. The fact that you present from a tactical angle and have spent time in clearly hostile situations provides a great viewpoint for listeners who have never experienced that for real, but someday may.

I have to say I was thrilled, I mean THRILLED when I heard the mention of a home defense rifle in one of your podcasts. So often people think only of shotguns when it comes to home defense. I’m just pleased to have found some other individuals that consider alternatives to common perception.

I look forward to you next show.

Great show guys! Found it through Shelton’s cast. I primarily hang out at The Survival Podcast forums, but I’m a gun guy so your show is a great addition to my iPod.

I think profiles of you guys on the site would be helpful so new folks coming in can be sure that you’re not yahoos. After a couple of episodes, it’s clear to me that you’re the real deal, but it would help if you posted your credentials for context.

Gentlemen, Congragulations on an outstanding podcast. I have turned many of my brothers-in-arms on to your show. I am a founding member of a training and consulting group, called the ThirdMonkey Combatives Group. We are a conglomerate of current and former operators from the Military, L.E., and Private sectors. As I still work for a certain Organization as my primary duty, my info in certain areas remains generic. I have recently thrown my hat in the ring of podcasting…. and I kinda blow at it. (I am hoping to find my niche and grow into this thing as I go. I stand and deliver in front of auditorium sized groups, the TREXPO, right down to individual teams and operators regularly, but as soon as the mic goes on… I shit the bed. It’s a skill-set that I will have to master. You guys however have locked on very well and have an awesome delivery. I had my first episode posted on I-Tunes, it’s called the “SpartanUnderground”, and I mention your podcast as a favorite in my cast. Keep up the good work.

Saint
